  • Joshua joined the Department of Physics at UC Riverside as an assistant professor in July 2015. Before that he was a postdoc in Prof. Nuh Gedik’s lab at MIT, where he studied two-dimensional MoS₂, graphene and spin liquids by ultrafast terahertz spectroscopy.  He obtained his Ph.D. in physics in Prof. Tony Heinz's lab at Columbia University, where he investigated single- and few-layer graphene by infrared, Raman and ultrafast laser spectroscopy.  Joshua grew up in Canton Province in southern China and migrated to Hong Kong when he was sixteen.  His Cantonese name is Chun Hung Lui (呂振鴻).
